AC Milan Home Kit

Associazione Calcio Milan popularly known as AC Milano, was created on the 13th of  December 1899.

It is no doubt AC Milan are one of the best clubs in the Italian league with a total of : 18 Serie A Championships, 5 Coppa Italias, 5 Italian Super Cups,1 Club World Cup among a host of other international titles to their name. Their nicknames are I Rossoneri (The Red and Blacks) and II Diavolo (The Devil).

Ironically, they share their stadium, the famed San Siro with their cross-town rival Internazionale Milano.

For the past 119 years, red and black have been the colors which have consistently represented the club. But what is the reason behind their color combination?

The reason the famed color were chosen was to represent the players’ fiery ardor (red) and the opponents’ fear to challenge the team (black).

Herbert Kilpin (the club’s first captain) said: “We will be a team of devils. Our colors will be red like fire and black like the fear that we will invoke in our opponents.

Little changes have been made with the AC Milan home kit, aside from those in the pattern, the removal of buttons, or the addition of collars – but the red and black has consistenly remained the same.Embed from Getty Images

In terms of Milan’s badge, it was always simply the Flag of Milan. The current badge represents the club colors and the flag of the Comune di Milano, with the acronym ACM at the top and the year the club was established at the bottom. Also on-top of the logo, a star can be found, awarded to the club after winning 10 league titles.

A.C Milan have been partnered with Adidas from 1998 to 2018, but the contract was terminated by mutual consent at the end of 2017/18 season. In early 2018, a deal with sportswear giants Puma was struck, with the company designing Milan’s kits from the start of the 2018-19 season.
